Leitz, ultra rare Leica MD-2 Post Camera 24x36 with fixed lens 35mm F:2 Summicron, exc+++ c.1977

Exc+++ condition (as is possible to see from the pictures), with some signs (especially on the base plate) for this very rare post camera. These cameras were made only to photograph counters (they were not intended for the amateur) and were "heavily" used, it's very very difficult to find them in excellent condition. It's the Leica MD-2 Post Camera made in Canada, negative size 24x36mm, with fixed lens 35mm F:2 Summicron without focusing. This special camera "comes" from the Leica MD-2, which was a simplified version of the Leica M4-2. But the charging lever is that of a "old" Leica M2 or M3 and it's in Black Paint finish instead of Black Chrome as the camera, very curious detail. I think (it's only my opinion) that the charging lever of the Leica M4-2 (but also of the M4) was not considered suitable for intensive use, having the terminal part in plastic. It's serial number is 1469677 (Ca.1977). A little curiosity, almost all the known numbers of the MD-2 Post are assigned to the Leica R3. The shutter speed is locked at 1/50 and the "shot" is only by a cable relase. Diaphragms instead working on their full scale. from F:2 to F:16. As for the other Post Camera models, the lens has a fixed focus. The curtains shutter "works" but, obviously, we can't guarantee its accuracy. Also the aperture works and the blades are oil free. The lens seems to be in good condition. Of this special model are know less than 20 cameras, so it's a very rare. Furthermore it's in unusually good condition for this type of cameras, they were intended for intensive use and it's very difficult to find them in these condition. A great item for the Leica collector.
