Henri Heemskerk - Femme Papillon - Scailmont - Vase (1)
An iconic and rare vase Femme-Papillon (butterfly woman) of the Belgian glass factory Scailmont, in amber yellow, designed by Henri Heemskerk (1886-1953), later director of Scailmont.
A half-naked woman figure, whose arms pass into the wings of a butterfly (dagpauwoog?). Above that, a rose garland. A fine example of art deco glass art from Belgium. The image on front and back is identical. The dynamics of the design give a "radiant" movement to the image.
See book: "De L 'Art Deco aux annees 50..." by Michèle Thiry.
The vase is in an excellent condition, without damage and is signed Fait and Belgique. Only a single air bubble which is common in this type of glass.
Will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered mail.
