Ship clock - John Poole, maker to the admiralty - Wood, brass - Late 20th century

The British Admiralty paid the sum of 20,000 British pounds, equal to one million today, for the prototype of the first working chronometer. This replica chronometer truly is a wonderful piece, made after an original by famous instrument maker John Poole. This clock with a diameter of 100 mm is mounted on concentric brass rings, called gimbals and gimballed in a wooden case, with two beautiful copper handles on both sides. Gimbals compensate for the stamping and rolling of the ship. The clock is powered by a Japanese Quartz movement, which works on two AA batteries. Batteries are included. If desired, the seller can send a link to view the correct operation of the chronometer. The clock will be packaged and shipped with a Track & Trace code.
