Charles Halphen - Halphen-Christofle - Spoon, solid silver and timpani alphenide (2) - .800 silver, alphénide
Solid silver baby spoon in very good condition with P M initials and Minerva head with 8.52 g and 12 cm long.
An Alphenide tumbler weighing 70.78 g, 7 cm high (there is no monograph yet, a newborn name can still be engraved). The name comes from the name of inventors Charles Halphen - & brothers, French chemists and goldsmiths during the 19th century.
The Alfenide factory was purchased in 1880 by Christofle and renamed ‘Orfèvrerie Gallia’.
Composition: It is a white ‘silver’ alloy for domestic use.
Alphenide has a greater hardness and longevity.
Compared to silver-plated metal, it has the advantage that it is solid and does not corrode.
