A duck in matte blue ceramic by the Chilean artist Pablo Zabal, made in the 1970s. His animal sculptures are known as 'Blue Zoo Ceramics'. The typical cobalt-blue colour is made by using a mix of materials, such as oxides, clay and silica which are fired at a high temperature. The decorations are applied with the use of the Sgraffito technique. This is done by hand, making each sculpture unique. The duck is signed 'Pablo Zabal Chile'. Light crackle on the beak. Dimensions: 20.5 cm from beak to tail. Heights: 12, 7 and 2.5 cm (head, back and tail). Widths: 7.5 and 5 cm (belly and tail). The lot will be properly packaged and shipped with registration.
