NWA 12447 meteorite. Brachinite, rare type - 9.4 g
Brachinites are a group of meteorites that are classified either as primitive achondrites or as asteroidal achondrites. Like all primitive achondrites, they have similarities and differences with chondrites and achondrites. Brachinites contain a 74 to 98% olivine volume. Brachinites are named after the Brachina meteorite, the type specimen of this group that was found in South Australia on 26 May 1974. Less than 0,1% of all meteorites are classified as brachinites.
NWA 12447 is classified as a brachinite. It was found in southern Morocco in 2004. In this lot a complete piece is offered.
