Mattel - He-man, Masters of the Universe - 9 Characters with Vintage accessories - 1980-1989 - Malaysia

He-man, Masters of the Universe. Lot composed of 9 original Mattel characters produced from 1981 to 1984, complete with their accessories. Mattel was founded in 1945 by Elliot Handler and Harold “Matt” Matson, whose mix of names (Matson’s nickname “MATT”, plus the initials of Handler’s name, “EL”) originated the brand. Ruth Handler, Elliot’s wife, later became president. Initially, Mattel produced photo frames and, only marginally, accessories for dollhouses. The latter activity became more profitable than the first, until the production of toys was recognised as the core business of the company. In 1959, following a visit to Europe where she learned about the Bild Lilli doll, Ruth Handler designed the “adult” Barbie doll. In 1970 the action figure Big Jim was conceived and designed, inspired by the G.I. Joe from Hasbro, with whom the company competed directly, which will be marketed from 1972 mainly in the United States, Europe and Mexico. The company had alternating periods of luck. In November 1975, Mattel was criticised for spreading false information to give the impression of a growth in its business volume that did not correspond to reality. However, the economic rise of Mattel soon became real and was mainly due to the creation of a series of hugely successful product lines. In the late 1980s and early 1990s Mattel was also the official distributor of NES (Nintendo) products in Europe and Canada. In 1993 it merged with another major toy manufacturer, Fisher-Price, and in 1996 it acquired Tyco Toys, at the time the third toy manufacturer in the world and holder of the View-Master brand, a popular stereoscopic viewer in production since 1939. In 2010 there was the release of Monster High, a series of dolls called the “gothic Barbies”. In 2013 these dolls made Mattel earn more than 1.5 billion dollars, thus becoming one of Mattel’s most important brands. PRO insured shipping. We use high-quality packaging material for shipping. Shipping via DHL, UPS or Nexive courier. We kindly ask you to sign the parcel as “goods unchecked”, otherwise the insurance will NOT cover the damage and we won’t be able to refund the amount paid. In this case, please inform us within 24 hours from the parcel receipt. Delivery times may be delayed due to the COVID-19 situation. The items will be sanitised before packaging.
