In Germany for Britan - J Runkel Solingen - Model 1796 - Spadroon - Sword

King George III British Model 1796 Infantry Officers Spadroon by J. Runkel - Solingen. This spadroon/sword is the model 1796 made in Germany by the J. Runkel company in Solingen for the British army. This is a weapon with a history, these spadroons/swords were carried and used in the Napoleonic and American 1812 era. The gold fire gilded hilt has it's typical urn shaped pommel, a bi-folding guard a quillon (with war damage) is still there (often chopped off in fights), the silver bound grip is in perfect condition. The blade is decorated with engravings i.e. British coat of arms, military motives and scrolling foliage. The blade has a nice dark patina, a small bit of pitting has occurred due to the hands of time, a residue of gilding is to be found in the engraving. On the shoulder engraved J. Runkel Solingen. In good condition, no scabbard present.
