A nice vintage “Marinakis” chess set from Greece with beautiful board and little detailed metal pieces. The figures are represented by classic Greek characters, probably inspired by the Atlantis legend, with Poseidon as a bishop and 2 dolphins as pawn. The towers are ionic style columns. The pieces have the same weight: in brass for the blacks and (I think) in brass plated with nickel for the white. Sizes of kings is 3 cm, of queens and bishops is 2,9 cm, of horses is 2,6 cm, of towers 2,3 cm and of pawns is 2,1 cm. The board is in metal decorated with nickel and turquoise enamel squares and a Greek style decoration all around. Size is 15x15 cm. The set comes with its original box, in cartoon, red plastic container with the pieces shapes, and plastic lid. Box in good condition; chess set as new. Tracked post service.
