Its production at the time consisted of army rifles, knives and steel-bladed swords. In 1930, the Haddad family developed their own business by creating handles with bird’s heads made of bones and buffalo horns. These handles were inlaid with coloured bones and brass and were applied on spoons, fork, knives, letter cutters, daggers. Haddad craftsmen are highly qualified and their skills travel through time and make the production of these traditional handicrafts a family-based profession. What adds enormous value to these crafts is this family’s eye for design and style. In fact, these handcrafted creations are sculpted in the shape of a Phoenix bird and painted in a vibrant way, and as proof of quality, every single piece is branded "S & S Haddad" with the majestic Lebanese cedar. This exceptional traditional craftsmanship is so well regarded that it was presented by Lebanese presidents and officials to dignitaries around the world, beginning with Ottoman sultans in the 18th century.
