Impressive German bayonet from the First World War. Manufacturer: E&F Hörster Solingen This bayonet belongs to the "sawtooth S98 / 05 M.S / mit Sah" variant known on the front as a "butcher knife" due to its serrated morphology. In this case, all the teeth are perfect and well polished, despite the passage of time. It must be taken into account that only 6% of the total bayonets manufactured in Germany during the Great War were of this variant and that, in 1917, they were withdrawn from the front in the face of Allied criticism for the terrible damage they caused, which is why they stopped manufacturing. Germany exported a large stock of them to Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Turkey, all in the final period of the Great War and in the interwar period.
