Philips - Bakelieten platenspeler 78-toeren Hoedendoos 952A - 78 rpm Grammophone player

Philips bakelite record player with built-in tube amplifier and speaker. This vintage record player is recognised as Dutch industrial heritage. Because of the design, the nickname is: Hat box. See internet for further info. This player optically looks good: see the original photos. Unfortunately there is a crack in the platter: see photo 3 in the top right. This is of course invisible when a record is put on top; I have not tried to repair it, but it can certainly be corrected. The player dates from 1948: a new, lighter tonearm was mounted in the fifties. The player looks good internally. The motor needs attention. This electric synchronous motor needs to be manually started via the rubber drive wheel, this way of starting the motor is standard for this player. The motor will probably have to be cleaned and re-lubricated. Audio component is good (on/off, loud/soft): tested with “manually driven” 78 rpm record. Original closures and original leather handle.
