Aldo Rossi - Alessi - Kitchenware - La Cubica

Aldo Rossi - Alessi - tomatenpan - "La Cubica" - 1991 The “Cubica” was designed in 1989 by the architect Aldo Rossi (1931-1997) for Alessi and released in 1991. In 1990 he won the Pritzker Prize as an architect. He is counted as part of postmodernism. In addition to being an architect, he was active from 1984 as a designer of utensils for Alessi, such as this pan. At "La Cubica", Aldo Rossi pushed the idea of "form follows function" to the limit and designed an ideal pan for cooking square tomatoes. However, this posed two problems: 1. The square tomato has not yet been marketed. 2. Due to major technical problems and high production costs, only a few hundred copies were produced. The Cubica is made of cast aluminium. This item has small chips here and there. Please view the photos. The pan seems unused. Sizes: 17 x 17 x 17 cm excluding handles. Colour: black. Condition: neat Literature: Alberto Alessi, The dream factory, Alessi from 1921, Kőnemann, Cologne, 1998, p. 55.
