Antique Chassepot rifle, 1866-74 model, central percussion, manufactured in 1871 (Saint Etienne), converted to 24 calibre for civilian use at the Saint-Étienne weapons factory. Good breech operation, good percussion. Beautiful factory markings on the breech and barrel. - numbered wood, still in very nice condition, rod channel not clogged. - polished steel barrel, with minor signs of age and use, but still in very beautiful condition (inside and outside). - all steel fittings, hallmarked, with signs of use and old corrosion (gunpowder) - chassepot lever breech, breech head modified for 24 calibre - (with signs of use and old corrosion (see pictures) - but good working order) - double-hole screws in barrel (civilian modification) - no rod (no longer useful, except as decoration, after calibre modification) beautiful rifle, interesting for its 24 calibre modification, in its patina, with stains, scratches and signs of use and age typical of an old war rifle, but still in very nice condition.
