Achille Castiglioni, Pier Giacomo Castiglioni - Zanotta - Stool

Sella - Zanotta telephone stool (1957). Designed by the brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Zanotta in 1957, Sella is one of the symbolic products of Italian design that contributes to the success of Made in Italy. Sella was conceived as a 'telephone stool' made with industrial elements. The seat is a real saddle from a road bicycle, in black leather, fixed with the classic lever clamp to a pink painted steel rod. The base, in cast iron with a diameter of 33 cm, allows dynamic balance and the seat to be 'always upright'. The total seat height is 71 cm and it is extendable. The prototype was presented in the exhibition 'Colours and shapes in today's home' held in Villa Olmo, Como in 1957. Production: Zanotta, 1983 Sella is part of numerous international collections and museums.
