Jansson, Tove - 4 Moomin silk screens - First edition - (1956)
Moomin prints from 1956, a rare found from an old archive.
These were the first Moomin products Tove Jansson gave permission to manufacture.
They were printed for the first commercial Moomin products exclusively made for Stockmann department store's "Moomin Hill"-event in Helsinki and NK Stockholm in 1956.
This is a restoration project which still goes on.
Characters are designed by Tove Jansson. She did illustrate also Tolkien’s the Hobbit and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland editions.
One of the prints (Sniff) is cunningly signed 'Tove' within the screenprint.
These prints are now after rediscovery exhibited in several toy and cartoon museums around the world like Cartoon Museum in London, in Finland in the Moomin Museum and Moomin Characters.
For sale restored series nr 82 which includes 4 different prints:
Moomintroll & Little My
Snorkmaiden
