Saber light cavalry no. 1 M1813

Saber of the light cavalry no.1 M1813, officer's saber. Blade provided with inscription "Schnitzler & Kirschbaum / Solingen". Leather grip with red copper wire. Total length: 94 cm. Blade width: 30 mm. These sabers were a direct derivative of the British light cavalry saber M1796, which became known after the Napoleon wars as the "Blücher saber". These sabers were shipped by the English by the ten thousands to their allies on the continent (among which The Netherlands) as help in the coalition wars against Napoleon. This is the officer's version, a little less crude and more elegant than that of the regular troops. Shipping by PostNL.
