A lovely antique Chinese high quality sandstone statue depicting a Fierce Foo Lion standing on Rocks. On his back many ribbons and adornments, remnants of polychrome cold painted pigments in the nostrils, mouth and eyes. Handcrafted in ancient China, possibly during the Ming dynasty, or earlier; possibly even from the Tang Dynasty (7th century). On the bottom nicely shaped and slightly hollowed base, very stabile.
Height: 24,3 centimeter
Provenance: From the inheritance of a major Dutch private collector, specialized in Oriental art.
Condition: The object is in very good condition, without any damages or restorations. The condition is carefully checked with strong UV-light and bright translucent white light.
