Almanach de la Esquella de la Torratxa. 1901-1905. Mucha designed this sensuous work to be the cover of the 1901 publication Esquella de la Torratxa in Barcelona. The illustrated satirical weekly magazine was written in Catalan and published from 1872 to 1939; it was pro-republican and anticlerical and became one of the most important Catalan publications of its time. Mucha used a typical goddess model for the work, but has given her traditional Spanish attire. Along the side, snowflakes and flowers represent the four seasons—a favorite and recurring motif for Mucha.
