Capodimonte - Bruno Merli - Figurine - "The card game" "The cheaters" / "I bari" “Il gioco” - Porcelain
Large original Bruno Merli figurine crafted from Capodimonte porcelain, known as "The card game" (“Il gioco a carte”) or "The cheaters" ("I bari"). It was made in Italy in the 1960-ies and bears the "N with Crown" Capodimonte mark as well as the Bruno Merli signature.
The figurine is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear on the wooden base only (see pictures). It depicts four Neapolitan youths playing cards, with two of them cheating to win. Their postures, gestures and the looks in their eyes, as well as the small details and carefully chosen colours, give this piece its timeless realistic appearance, making it one of the most sought-after Bruno Merli figurines.
