Herman Miller - Charles & Ray Eames, Alexander Girard - Side chair (2) - DSX - Metal, Fiberglass, Millmosaic Fabric, Foam

Very rare matched pair of 1960s / 1970s white fiberglass Eames shell DSX side chairs (2) with black metal H-bases, upholstered in original Alexander Girard "Millmosaic" fabric in blue. A stunning combination. The shells are in excellent condition with no cracks or scratches. They bear their original "herman miller" labels with partial material labels in German language. H-bases are in very good condition with some signs of wear/paint loss. All eight glides are present. Chair upholstery was professionally cleaned, although still shows some light soiling around the edges. Could be further cleaned if so desired. Foam still feels springy and firm, quickly reassuming its shape after being compressed. Chair 1 Notes: • 5,5cm of the stitching in the white vinyl retaining band around this seat is no longer present, although the band is still firmly attached. Chair 2 Notes: • The plastic ventilation flange is missing from this shell. • The upholstery has started to pull away toward the stitching where the seat meets the back. This was a common issue and is minor on this chair. • Upon close inspection, the seat fabric on this shell shows some small melt marks / holes. You have to look closely to see them. PLEASE NOTE: Shipping costs are for estimate purposes only. I will work with the buyer to find the most cost-effective solution that meets their needs and exact location.
