Brionvega Doney 14. Designed by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper in 1962. First portable transistor TV set ever made in Europe. Technical and design features made it the most advanced European set of the time. 14" cathode tube (110 degrees) fully transistorised. The type of transistors used were the same applied to missile weapon system electronics. Mains-powered from standard household power supply or from car/boat accumulator; it can also run on own battery which is charged when the appliance is plugged into a power outlet. Only TV set to be awarded the "Golden Compass", it constantly features in the most relevant design exhibitions. It has received an important acknowledgement for its contribution to the development and prestige of Italian industrial manufacturing. In 1963 it was selected by the Louvre Exhibition to represent the entire world production at the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design. Measurements: 37.5 x 36 x 33 cm. The appliance has been restored back to working order. Manufactured in 1969. Crack in the lower section of the screen protector. Retractable antenna is missing. Equipped with original electric plug and wire; adapted to enable cable connectivity.
