Ammonites are fossilized shells of marine animals that lived between 66 and 400 million years ago.
This specimen stands out for its particular colour and for the apparently fragile appearance in contrast with the real solidity of the fossil: it seems to be a construction of sand and mud ready to crumble at the first touch. We do not know what may have led to this particular fossilization, but surely we are very pleased that mother nature has given us this very special gift.
