This Beerenauslese honours its classification as a VDP Große Lage! The soil in the Schloss Johannisberg vineyard consists of Taunis quartzite with fertile loam layers and loess. Small amounts of iron dioxide give the soil its reddish colour. The overripe Riesling grapes from this vineyard, which has been recognised as a VDP Große Lage, were harvested by hand and subjected to whole-cluster pressing. The Riesling was matured in stainless steel and left on the fine lees for a further 5 months. The rose-gold-coloured Riesling Beerenauslese is a radiant golden yellow in the glass and looks downright brilliant. The opulent, complex nose is full of honey, mango, papaya, lemon peel, kumquats and camomile. On the palate, the wine has a creamy, sweet sensation, which is complemented by a surprisingly fresh acidity and great mineral tension. The finish is also harmonious and exciting, the wine lingers pleasantly on the palate for a long time. The Rosa-Goldlack Riesling Beerenauslese is best served with desserts such as crème brûlée with strawberry ragout.
