Aesthetic Cluster of zoned lilac ARAGONITE ciclic twins - Height: 4.1 cm - Width: 3.5 cm- 46 g - (1)

A very nice sculptural, classic group of aragonite cyclical twins from the new finds at this well-known Spanish locality that have become of notable clarity and quality over time as the artisanal workings get into deeper aragonite bearing clay beds that have not been altered by meteoric fluids. Still, even then, most specimens do not display the excellent luster, sharp geometry, and remarkable transparency with a distinctive lack of clay inclusions that this example shows of. The crystals are zoned in the sandwich style typical for the pieces found in the Spanish keupper formation, consisting of a purple center band, in this case lilac in color, that smoothly transitions into two light colored zones at opposite ends of the prism. As far as I know, this material is coming from a small, narrow seem in one of the deeper pits being worked in the area, and in my opinion, it is very much the finest quality that has been produced as of yet. This specimen has been reconstructed with acetone soluble glue as almost every piece in these deposits has to be since the contacts between crystals are usually separated with a thin layer of gypsum or clay, making the extraction of complete groups impossible, otherwise the piece is 360º and damage free. As a disclaimer i have to remind any potential buyers that this material is uv sensitive so unless you want the purple to go away, please do not put in your windowsill and if possible display under appropriate artificial lighting.
