Authentic and first ever commercial Moomin prints from 1956, a rare found from an archive.
These were the first products Tove Jansson gave permission to manufacture.
They were exclusively printed for Stockmann luxury department store in Helsinki and NK Stockholm in 1956 to be used for the first commercial Moomin products manufactured by former Vaasan Saippuatehdas (1886-1987) in Vaasa Finland.
This is a restoration project which still goes on.
Characters are designed by Tove Jansson. She did illustrate also Tolkien’s the Hobbit and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland editions.
One of the prints (Sniff) is cunningly signed 'Tove' within the screenprint.
These prints are now after rediscovery exhibited in several toy and cartoon museums around the world like Cartoon Museum in London, in Finland in the Moomin Museum and Moomin Characters.
