Ottoman Empire Silver-metal Ring with Red Hardstone Intaglio with a Quadruped (No Reserve Price)
A very impressive Ottoman Empire silver-metal ring. It features a rectangular bezel set with a red hardstone intaglio, showing a quadruped, possibly a donkey, through the incorporation of two prongs. The background of the scene has been decorated with multiple carved dots around the animal. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The raised bezel is decorated on all sides with twisted lines resembling sea waves. The ring band is wide and displays further decorations, partly worn and faded, with a curved formation rising in the centre. The design is further enriched with fine filigrees around the perimeter of the bezel and on the shoulders. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
