Ottoman Empire Silver-metal Ring with Green Hardstone Intaglio with a Profile (No Reserve Price)
A very impressive Ottoman Empire silver-metal ring. It presents a raised circular bezel with a green hardstone intaglio showing a face in profile. Three incised dots enrich the background. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The bezel collar features a decorative band of granular patterns and a crenulated border, making it reminiscent of a crown. The raised bezel is richly decorated on two sides with a zoomorphic pattern. The ring shoulders are made in the shape of birds, with fine detailing applied to mark out the feathers. They are depicted with their wings slightly spread but still close to their bodies and their heads supporting the bezel, their bodies seamlessly melt into the ring band. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
