Superb iron currency from Africa, Chamba - Mambila - Nigeria. XIX - XX Century.
It is a semicircular sheet divided into two zones and set on mismatched levels. The trunk can be wrapped up by a thin blade or by leather cladding. Two different sizes can be found: medium and giant. A series of these currency pieces was presented by Michel Huguenin in his Paris Gallery in 1997. we can see them in a photo published by a French magazine, Arts d'Afrique Noire nº103, autumn 1997, page 52.
Forged iron - Size: 93 X 28.5 X 0.5 cm / Weight: Aprox. 3 Kgs (For sale with stand).
