Superb iron currency from Africa, Ga'anda - Nigeria / Cameroon. XIX - XX Century.
In the history of early art, these iron blades were used not only as currency, but also as offerings, wedding dowries and, of course, for major festive and ceremonial occasions.
Profiled in a multitude of abstract forms, these metal sculptures offer a highly aesthetic appearance. The Ga'anda, on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon, are famous for their terracotta used for funeral rites.
