This is a beautiful, vintage, intricately modelled, Gilt Bronze, Avalokitesvara Buddha. With hand painted ritual blue and red colour to the hair, lips and rear of the crown. The eyes are also hand painted. Sitting in Meditation, the deity is dressed in flowing robes, with precious body jewellery symbolising enlightenment. Wearing a pointed, decorative, leaf crown, with tied up hair that drapes to the shoulders and down the upper arms. Although typical of pieces, including the modelling and iconography, from the Sung to Ming Dynasties, (including facial features, stylisation, and overall modelling) to be safe I'm dating it from the mid to late 20th century. Please make your own estimation. All my statues are are kept under Buddhist and/or Taoist conditions. CONDITION: Good. With wear, dust, patina, blemishes, oxidization, loss of gilt, loss of paint colour, scratches, small casting faults and excesses, modelling and casting irregularities, all consistent with age, type, and age of manufacture.
