Christop Dresser - James Dixon & sons - Coffee and Tea set (4) - Edwardian Style - Silver-plated
Amazing vintage silver plated James Dixon & Sons coffee pot and teapot and sugar bowl and milk jar set from Shefield. All included are 4 of them.
James Dixon & Sons (James Dixon & Sons), founded 1806 in Sheffield, was one of the major British manufacturers of the Industrial Revolution. They were manufacturers of pewterware, electroplated Britannia metal, silverware and electroplated nickel silver. This set belongs to the period between 1835 and 1920.
In the Metropolitan Museum in New York they have a piece by this company and I am not surprised, really, because it is absolutely stuning.
The set is in good vintage condition, but has some dents, which does not detract from its charm, as can be seen in the photos. I recommend zooming in to see every detail perfectly.
The firm exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851, being awarded several prizes in different classes for silver and Britannia metal.
The teapot weighs 930 grams and measures 29cm wide, 18cm deep and 16cm high.
The coffee pot weighs 1024gr and measures 23cm,16cm deep and 26cm high.
The milk jar weighs 315 gr and measures 10cm wide 14cm high 8cm deep
The sugar bowl weighs 458 gr and measures 18 cm wide, 11 cm deep and 13 cm high
