An old French Head dress dating to approximately 1870.
The provenance is the French Département Isère which is near Lyon.
These head dresses were very popular in the 18th Century .
In the Netherlands and particularly Friesland were similar head dresses,
and I vividly remember my Great Grandmother wearing one, but under the head dress
she would wear a golden "oorijzer" and then the embroidered and lace head dress.
The head dress has in the centre 2 soft embroidered open flowers with detailed leaves.
On both sides is a piece of lace.
The top of the head dress has two layers of gathered fringing.
The head dress is in good order despite some imperfections like
tiny repairs on the tule and hardly visible to the naked eye.
Also the ribbons have had "wear and tear", but you can expect this from
these fragile pieces.
The piece is clean, with no stains and traces and very white.
PLEASE NOTE;
There will be a cash refund for certain European countries because of its lightweight.
