Nobuyoshi Araki - Diary of a Photography Enthusiast - 1992

Diary of a Photography Enthusiast Nobuyoshi Araki Fusosha/Japanese/135*195*20/1992 A collection of photographs by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers, entitled "Shakaijin Nikki: Chiro to Shashita, '91. This book consists of snapshots taken during the year 1991. From monochrome days to color days. The cover of the book says, "From monochrome days to color days, the entire landscape of 1991 as seen by Nobuyoshi Araki, a photojournalist, through his 'winter journey'". The book opens with a view of the Veranda, which is stamped with the date January 1, 1991, a year after Yoko's death. Snapshots of the city, the dull, heavy sky, students, children, glamorous women, people she met everywhere she went (including many celebrities), the image of Akizakurako that would later be compiled into the photo collection "Akizakurako," and Chiro relaxing on the sofa on his usual balcony, as usual. The photographs, which began in black-and-white, were changed to color in November. This year, too, began with a photograph of the balcony. The winter journey continued. The last scene of this Shakaijin Diary is also a picture taken on the balcony. Chiro is not in the picture, but he is there. (In 1991, when I took the picture with Chiro, monochrome turned to color, and before I knew it, our winter journey had come to an end" (from the postscript).
