Very large and beautiful wringer/mangle, Smith & Paget - 19th Century

A very nice, antique, mangle/wringer, in fantastic condition! and very industrial. Just look at the beautiful cast iron cogwheels, stunning cast iron. A mangle is a tool that was used for ironing fabrics while, at the same time, removing moisture from washed fabrics. The wet fabric was turned through two rolls, the distance between which could be adjusted, thus pressing the water out of the fabric. The mangle was replaced by the centrifuge. Nowadays, the mangle is (mostly) no longer used in households but widely used (highly modernized versions) in professional laundries. The word lives on in phrases such as "putting someone through the wringer", meaning to subject someone to a severe trial or ordeal. Source: Wikipedia Nice patina and details, see pictures Very nice for decoration, although it still works perfectly Dimensions: High around 160 wide 120 Deep with shelves 75 Mobile on 4 wheels. Weight around 100 kilograms Can be shipped in consultation. Will be sent on a pallet by courier, costs NL (except Wadden) € 50,- other countries can be discussed, otherwise can be picked-up.
