The crack is very, very solid!
Nothosaurus ("false lizard", from the Ancient Greek language) is an extinct genus of sauropterygian reptiles from the Triassic period. It was a semi-oceanic animal with a lif-style similar to that of today‘s seals. It got about 4 metres long and had web toes.
