Ottoman Empire Silver-metal Ring with Green Hardstone Intaglio with a Winged Quadruped (No Reserve Price)
An Ottoman Empire silver-metal ring, presenting a raised round bezel with a dark green hardstone intaglio showing a quadruped, possibly a pegasus, with its wings outstretched as if in flight. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The raised bezel is richly decorated on all sides with a band of circular motifs and floral patterns, as well as a bird's head motif to its base. The ring band is also partly decorated with a vine-like pattern. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Inside diameter: 1.8 cm
Closest UK ring size: P
Provenance: Purchased by the current owner in 2021. Prior English collection of Mr. A.H.D.
