A fine Bactrian, Kushan empire, gold earring featuring a triangular shape with a central triangular pale turquoise stone inset, possibly feldspar, framed by three gold triangles. Further gold decorations enrich the bottom of the earring where there may have been additional detailing, now missing. The back is unadorned and the earring displays a curving hook. Jewellery played an important role across many Near Eastern civilisations. Gold necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets would have been worn in everyday life but also buried with the deceased.
