Of bright turquoise faience, wearing tripartite wig and beard, holding the pick and hoe with typical basket incised at the back. The primary function of shabtis was to act as labourers for the deceased in the Field of Reeds, a heavenly paradise where the deceased continued their existence. It was believed that the deceased would be called upon to perform various tasks in the afterlife and the shabtis would serve as substitutes to carry out these responsibilities on their behalf.
