Æ Antoninianus of Emperor Probus, struck Antioch 276-282 AD.
Obverse: IMP CM AVR PROBVS PF AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Reverse: CLEMENTIA TEMP, Emperor standing right, holding eagle-tipped sceptre and receiving globe from Jupiter, standing left, holding sceptre.
A in lower centre, dot in lower center (sixth Officina)

Diameter: ± 21,5 mm
Condition: fine condition, signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
Probus: Roman Emperor from 276-282 AD. Under his reign the Roman armies successfully defeated the Germanic invaders in Gaul and put down a rebellion in Britain.
He encouraged the planting of vineyards in Gaul, Spain, and Britain and was evidently killed by troops who resented his discipline and being set to agricultural work.
