Designed as a suspension arch bridge, this bookcase is an Italian icon of engineering and architecture.

Two catenary arches support the weight of the shelves, suspension cables connect the shelves to the arch, transferring the load to the floor. The shelves provide a surface on which to rest objects and maintain the stability of the arch. This stability is achieved by attaching the shelves to the edges of the arch, preventing the arch from opening.

Designed by international Architect Sabina Blasiotti, and crafted in Abruzzo, Italy. Il Pontaio comes with a certificate that guarantees its origin and authenticity.
