Karl Ens, Volkstedt - Huge Pair of Owls Birds on Branch (36/26 cm) - ca 1910 - Porcelain

Exquisite rare Karl Ens porcelain sculpture of a pair of “Owls” birds resting on a branch, marvelous tailed up, in excellent condition. This spectacular antique porcelain figurine was produced by the Karl Ens Porcelain Factory during the early 20th century, marked on the base “ENS”(1900 - 1919), precious collector item. Owls represent wisdom, knowledge, change, transformation, intuitive development, and trusting the mystery as well as a symbol of protective, wise, and intuitive energy. They can turn head about 270 degrees, which is certainly much farther than what humans can do. The long-eared owl has relatively large ear slits placed asymmetrically on the sides of its head, as in a majority of owls, with the left ear higher and right lower in order to allow them to absorb sound both from above and below. This group sculpture is of exceptional quality, highly impressed feathers, finished in shiny glaze and hand painted in vivid hues of orange, brown and yellow. It is in excellent condition, marked with blue Ens “mill” mark of the period, limited piece as #499L numbered, beautifully sculpted and glazed, large oven crack on one leg, factory related, NO chips, NO other cracks or repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description. Dimensions: Length: 36 cm Height : 26 cm Width: 24,5 cm It will be very carefully and safely packed ! With love and respect for the porcelain - “ The White Gold “
