Praha" is a collection of photographs by Akira Sato (1930-2002), one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. Born in Azabu, Tokyo, to a family of blanket wholesalers, he grew up in an environment where he was exposed to foreign countries from an early age, and spent his time at Yokohama National University reading foreign magazines. He was an artist of such creativity that the famous critic Shinya Yoshimura said, "Even so, nothing is as far from words as his photographs," and Shoji Yamagishi said he was troubled by the titles and descriptions of Sato's works.
