Lobi - Burkina Faso (No Reserve Price)
A fragmentary Lobi sculpture, called Bateba Yadawara, (sad bateba), collected in the border district Burkina Faso/Ivory Coast, close to the Passena, from a well-known, unnamed carver, standing on eroded feet, the elongated arms with hands close to the ears; extremely heavy, hard wood., incl. metal stand. Certificate of origin and provenance.
Giovanni Franco Scanzi, Lobi Traditional Art, Milano, 1993, page 196, with another sculpture from the same carver (last photo sequence).
