One of the most ancient icons "Joy to all who mourn" is located in the hospital temple of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. According to legend, the icon became famous for miracles as early as the 12th century. More than once, the porter of the hospital saw a beautiful woman enter at night and noticed that each time one of the patients got better. Sufferers also saw the miraculous Guest, and when they asked Her who She was, they received the answer: "I am the Joy of those who mourn." One night the Woman appeared again and the porter went after Her. The Blessed Guest entered the room where a gravely ill monk was awaiting death. The watchman approached the dying man and suddenly saw on the wall above him a moonlit image of the Mother of God. Overwhelmed, he fell to his knees and began to pray fervently. The sick monk was also deigned to see the Heavenly Mistress and soon after he completely recovered.
