Luristan Bronze Arrowhead Group (3) (No Reserve Price)

A fine selection of three Luristan cast bronze arrowheads, varying in shape and size but all featuring an elongated triangular blade with a central raised mid-rib, a narrow tang, and slightly rounded barbs. The items present a beautiful blue-green patina and some earthly encrustations to the surface, along with some damage to the edges of the blades. The largest blade is slightly bent. The arrowheads have been mounted on a custom-made display stand. Luristan objects are for the majority bronze cast items decorated with bronze sculptures and there have been many discovered in the Lorestān Province. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts. Measurements (including the stand): L 12.3cm x H 14.5cm; arrowheads: L12.8 cm x W 2.1cm, L 10.3cm x W 2.2cm, L 12.4cm x W 2.2cm. Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
