Cook Islands. 50 Cent 2004 'Australian most famous outlaw - Ned Kelly', Proof (No Reserve Price)
This Cook Island 50c piece struck in colourized copper-nickel commemorates Australian most famous outlaw.
It was in 1880, 140 years ago, that Ned made his last stand, known to history as the Siege at Glenrowan. It was in Ann Jones’ inn at Glenrowan that Ned, his brother Dan, Steve Byrne and Joe Hart took on the colonial police in a bloody gun battle, with all four gang members clad in homemade suits of armor. Ned’s comrades died in the encounter, with the leader of the legendary Kelly Gang wounded and captured by police. In November of the same year, having been convicted of murder, Ned Kelly was hanged at what is now known as Old Melbourne Gaol.
With a limited mintage , it comes complete in full colour informative card.
