Ottoman Empire Silver-metal Ring with Lapis Lazuli Intaglio with a Quadruped (No Reserve Price)
A very impressive Ottoman Empire silver-metal ring. It presents a raised oval bezel set with a lapis lazuli intaglio showing a galloping quadruped with a raised tail, probably a horse. Four incised dots enrich the background. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The raised bezel presents an oval shape and is decorated on all sides with floral patterns, and volutes on either side of the bezel and the shoulders of the ring. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Measurements: H 3.1cm x W 2.7cm
Inside diameter: 2cm
Closest UK ring size: N
Provenance: Purchased by the current owner in 2021. Prior English collection of Mr. A.H.D.
