Ancient Egyptian Steatite Cippus depicting Horus, Bes, Crocodiles and Scorpions
The front carved in high relief with the head of Bes above Horus-the-Saviour standing on two nuzzling crocodiles, grasping a lion and snakes in one hand and an oryx and scorpion in the other, two horus falcons on each top side.
A liquid poured over the cippus stela would be magically charged with the power of the cippus. Persons who desired protection against poisonous wounds could drink this liquid or pour it over themselves. For someone who had been stricken, the liquid could be applied to the wound. The cippus may also have been touched to partake of its power.
