Signed; Paolo Roversi - Paolo Roversi - 2021

This volume contains a gallery of Roversi's most beautiful images. In Paolo Roversi's images, the affinity between photography and painting is substantial. And his way of working - the studio, the skill in using the light of a place that is home, sometimes the out-of-focus, sometimes the overexposure - produces special portraits. Paolo Roversi is a renowned Italian photographer, known for his distinctive style in fashion and commercial photography. Born in Ravenna on 25 September 1947, Roversi discovered his passion for photography during a family holiday in 1964 in Spain, which led him to build a darkroom in the basement of his house on his return. His professional career began in 1970 with photojournalism assignments for the Associated Press. After an invitation to Paris from the art director of ELLE Magazine, Peter Knapp, in 1973, Roversi began to focus on fashion photography. After a nine-month period as an assistant to British photographer Lawrence Sackmann, Roversi began working independently, achieving recognition with a beauty campaign for Dior in 1980 and establishing his reputation as one of the industry's leading photographers by the mid-1980s. His photographs, which often feature female figures in soft, monochrome images, are characterised by diffuse lighting and a dreamlike atmosphere, making them simultaneously timeless and contemporary. Roversi is also known for his use of Polaroid 8x10 film, which is no longer produced, and for his charcoal, chromogenic or pigment prints. He has led advertising campaigns for brands such as Cerruti, Comme des Garçons, Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent and Valentino, and his work has been published in international magazines such as Arena, Harper's Bazaar, I-D, Interview, Marie Claire, The New York Times Magazine, Italian and British Vogue and W24.
